Why Avengers: Endgame Is So Anticipated, According To Kevin Feige

Very soon, eroes of the Marvel Cinematic Universe will either be returning from ash, staying ash, or timelines are being adjusted and the heroes were never snapped into ash at all. I don’t know because I still haven’t seen the film. It’s an impressive feat to for the most part keep a consistent level of quality throughout a trilogy, but to do what Kevin Feige and Marvel have done with the 22 films of the MCU is something truly special. And what is it exactly that makes this fourth entry into the Avengers franchise the most highly anticipated comic book movie to date?

Kevin Feige was asked this very question during the Marvel Studio’s Avengers: Endgame global press conference by event host and Jon Favreau (who himself has both acted within the MCU as well as directing the film that launched the universe, Iron Man). Here’s what he had to say.

“Well, what’s special is all the actors on this stage, all the actors who are not on this stage. And as you said earlier, the family that has come together this decade plus. And the fact that in a, Robert said it so well in the trailer, part of the journey is the end. And about four or five years ago, we all started talking about doing something at every turn including the first Iron Man film. We talked about, how can we do something that’s never been done before. What is a super hero outs his identity at the very last shot of the movie? We can’t do that? No one does that. You can’t do that. What would we do next time? I don’t know. Let’s do it. Four or five years ago, we talked about, what haven’t we seen in films based on comic characters? We haven’t seen an ending. A definitive conclusion to an overall saga. So that’s why it’s called Endgame and why I think it’s very, very, very special. “

Of course, Avengers: Endgame is a milestone, but the film’s epic status couldn’t be achieved without the very solid foundation of the MCU and the other films of which it consists. The continued success and consistency of the MCU films have allowed fans to go on this decade-long journey which has led us here, to the climax, the payoff, Avengers: Endgame.
