When Avengers: Infinity War was originally dated for release, like many Marvel movies it was due to release earlier in Europe and other territories than it was in the US. Specifically, the movie would open in April overseas and then arrive early May in the US.
As we know now, Marvel and parent company Disney then decided to change this and have one release day in May for everyone, probably so they could avoid spoilers hitting the US before the actual movie. Avengers 4 similarly has an earlier April release planned overseas, which could cause the same problem for spoilers hitting the US. So are Marvel going to change this? Current signs point to no I’m afraid, so far anyway.

You can see below the Twitter post from Anton Volkov highlighting that IMAX recent SEC filing still has Avengers 4 down to open earlier outside of North America. Check it out.
While I’ll be shocked if they don’t do the same day and date thing as Infinity War, IMAX’s recent SEC filing yesterday has it down for the same April internationally, May in US/Canada release date for #Avengers4 https://t.co/L7O4de3tp5 pic.twitter.com/u0vu0DEBlw

Now whilst it is still possible for Marvel to make this change, they are kind of leaving it a little late. So did their internal analysts feel the same day release actually hurt Infinity War? I don’t know, but as someone who lives on the early release side of the water, I guess it’s not me that has to worry about spoilers coming across the Atlantic too quickly.
Would you rather Marvel opened their movies on the same date across all territories, or do you have an effective way to block out any spoilers? Share your thoughts in the usual place below.
