Will Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge Bring In Mandalorian Characters?

The Mandalorian S3 - First BTS Shot - But It 's Not Exciting

It’s no secret that the Disney Parks are hurting financially as a result of the Covid-19 Pandemic.  With thousands of layoffs taking place in the previous months Disney is trying to turn the tide and get more people back to the parks. One of the biggest additions to the parks in California and Florida was Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge.  A unique experience that transports guests to the planet Batuu and puts them right into the fight between the Resistance and the First Order.

While initial reactions to Galaxy’s Edge have been mostly positive the wonder of the area has slowly gone down.  Of course the closure of the parks and the protocols put in place has limited the crowds at Disney World while Disneyland still remains closed.  It was the opening of Rise of the Resistance ride that has kept a decent flow of crowds coming to Hollywood Studios.  With characters like Rey, Chewbacca and Kylo Ren walking around the area it allows guests to interact with some of their favorite characters from the sequel trilogy.

In all honesty though after the initial visit I made to Galaxy’s Edge the lore and magic went away. Now when I visit the area it is mainly just to get on Rise of the Resistance and pick up some new merchandise at Dok-Ondors. I made my own lightsaber the first time I went and made a droid on another visit.  Now when I go to the park, making a stop at Galaxy’s Edge is a top priority unless I get a boarding pass for Rise of the Resistance.

A big reason for this is the disconnect I have with the sequel trilogy.  I don’t hate the sequel trilogy movies but they do not rank high among all the Star Wars content out there for me.  I think it would be safe to assume that more people agree with me.  And when you have an attraction dedicated to one aspect of Star Wars then the aura goes away fast.

It seems that Disney Parks executives are now discussing how to incorporate characters and merchandise from other eras into Galaxy’s Edge.  Of course at the top of those discussions is bringing the world of The Mandalorian to the parks.  This would give fans the opportunity to interact with characters and locations from their favorite parts of Star Wars.

Personally, I think that it would make more sense to bring back the Star Wars Galactic Nights parties that took place prior to the opening of Galaxy’s Edge.  Hollywood Studios and Disneyland could transform for the hard ticket party into an area where we see bounty hunters and characters from The Mandalorian walking around.
