The Venom film has a lot going against it. Marvel Studios has done a great job of building our faith as fans, but Sony has pretty much done the polar opposite, bringing us films like The Amazing Spider-Man 2, which were obvious cash grabs, in hopes of setting up their own Spider-Verse. We all know how well that went (it didn’t).
Now, they are banking on a character that comic book fans love. The only problem is that he now has to exist outside of the shadow of the character that spawned his creation to begin with: Spider-Man. The big problem? They don’t seem to be utilizing the darker nature of the character to its fullest extent. If Spider-Man isn’t present, you may as well go full R, right? No chance here.

Plus, we have the fact that the screening for Venom is the Wednesday before release — which is not a good sign. Usually, it’s the Monday or Tuesday before.
Luckily, we do have this one new clip for the film. In it, we see the dynamic between Eddie Brock and Venom as he’s being attacked by the baddies’ henchmen. It’s a fun dynamic I enjoy quite a bit, and I’d be lying if I didn’t say I was entertained. If they can somehow keep me interested for a solid two hours, I’ll be pleased.
But what do you think? Were you as entertained by this clip as I was? Let us know down below!
