Wonder Woman 84, the sequel to Wonder Woman and once again starring Gal Gadot, Chris Pine and helmed by Patty Jenkins is due for release, finally on June 5th, 2020. I say finally, because it seems like the movie has been getting made forever with the principal photography being complete for some time.
Today we share an interesting spot from a Reddit user who noticed something about one of the WW84 actress’ Instagram accounts. The image shows this actress in a costume which is reminiscent of what the senators (council) of Themyscira wore in Wonder Woman. You can catch the original Reddit thread and the image below:
Ultimately this could be as simple as Wonder Woman 84 having a Themyscira scene or two, or a flashback, but the Reddit post theorizes another explanation, which might help explain Cheetah, the main villain of the movie. In the comics the Amazons of Bana-Mighdall, a splinter group who wished to seek vengeance on the men who vanquished their people relocated to Egypt. We know that Dr. Barbara Minerva seems to become Cheetah through some Egyptian connection, so could this Bana-Mighdall group be responsible for creating Cheetah in some way and be the shadowy group representing Diana’s main threat?
It is a nice theory, but with this little information to go on, I think it’s reaching a little to really pin this to your mast. The far more likely and simple explanation is a flashback or scene in Themyscira, but who knows? Perhaps this theory will gain traction as more information seeps out for this movie over the next year.
What do you think of this theory, too much of a leap, or does it feel right for you? Share any thoughts you have in the usual place below.
