Zack Snyder And The Rock To Attend DC’s FanDome Event

DC’s FanDome event is bringing the heavy hitters.

I’ve always wanted to attend a Comic-Con in the US, but unfortunately, I was born on the other side of the Atlantic, so I’ve never really had the opportunity, until this year … sort of.

As you may have heard or guessed, in light of the coronavirus pandemic, this year’s San Diego Comic-Con has been canceled, with a free virtual event available for everyone to be held in its stead. Subsequently, DC Comics revealed its decision not to take part in the online version of SDCC, and that it would be hosting its own separate online event – DC’s FanDome event, which means people like me get to ‘attend’ not one but two comic conventions this summer.

DC has no shortage of news and content ready to share with their fans, with announcements and info due in relation to a large number of DC’s upcoming TV, comics, video game, and movie projects. In terms of upcoming DC movies, we already know to expect, at the very least, updates and content relating to The Batman, Wonder Woman 1984, The Suicide Squad, Zack Snyder’s Justice League, and Black Adam.

Regarding the latter two films in that list, we now know that Zack Snyder and the Rock will in fact be attending the DC FanDome event to talk about their respective projects, as in recent days they’ve both confirmed their involvement via social media.

Snyder posted a simple tweet announcing his involvement along with a brief video clip advertising the event itself, but with all the recent news about his cut of Justice League finally getting made, it doesn’t take the world’s greatest detective to figure out what he’ll be there to talk about.

Now, while I didn’t care much for Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and disliked Justice League, I remain mildly hopeful that maybe we’ll finally get a half-decent JL movie, so I’m interested to see what he’ll reveal to the fans during the online event.

The Rock’s Instagram post, on the other hand, was intriguing. It’s been confirmed for quite a while that the former WWE superstar-turned-actor will be playing Shazam’s nemesis Black Adam, but we’ve had few details beyond that fact and a release date. However, judging by the aforementioned post, we may be in for some new info.

“The hierarchy of power in the DC Universe is about to change. I will be joining the epic and first of its kind, #DCFanDome on 08.22.20. This one is for YOU – THE FANS. #BlackAdam⚡”

What exactly does that comment about the “The hierarchy of power in the DC Universe” mean? It’s intentionally cryptic. Maybe I’m reaching, but could the Rock be suggesting that Black Adam’s arrival in the DCEU will somehow upset the balance of power? Maybe it could happen by challenging Henry Cavill’s Superman?

There have already been rumblings of a Black Adam-Superman meeting occurring at some point down the line. As such, it’s definitely not beyond the realm of possibility. But perhaps the DC FanDome event will offer us some more concrete details. Here’s hoping!

What are you more hyped about, Zack Snyder’s Justice League or the Rock’s debut in the DCEU as Black Adam? Are you happy they’ll be at DC’s FanDome event? Sound off in the comments section!
