Zack Snyder Hopes For A Theatrical Release Of His Justice League Cut

It is amazing over the span of four years Zack Snyder has been attached to a film he will eventually get to finish.  The “Release the Snyder Cut” took over social media and the media and continued to grow until Warner Bros. finally caved and agreed to allow Snyder to finish his movie. Instead of just releasing a directors cut Warner Bros. has given Zack Snyder more money and the ability to film more scenes to finish his project.  The project has now turned a two hour movie into four episodes streaming on HBO Max sometime next year.  But does that mean this form of Justice League will never have another theatrical release?

If Zack Snyder had his way he would love for his version no matter how long to be released in theaters. “I love the movies, I love the theatrical experience, I’m a huge advocate. If it’s possible I would love there to be a theatrical component to Justice League.”  Snyder mentioned during an interview on Ping Pong Flix’s YouTube Channel “It’s a little above my pay grade as far as distribution. The reality is the way distribution works, Warner Bros. and HBO Max they have to make deals with all these different territories and there’s this super complicated process of how they sell the movie. But barring that and with any kind of luck, in places where maybe HBO Max doesn’t exist or something like that, there might be an opportunity to grab some IMAX screens.”

In my opinion this would be a great litmus test sometime in the future when the vaccine is available to test the movie market. Snyder echoed these sentiments that he hopes when the pandemic is under control and his cut has been on HBO Max for a while their could be a possibility to release in theaters. “I’ve said this, it is my ideal and deep dream and hope that we will be able to screen this movie for fans in IMAX. Whether it be once or a hundred times I’m not sure, but that is really what I would love to see….It would be after, we would release the movie on HBO Max and then we would take those dedicated few to the big, big, big screen and just go nuts.”

While there has been multiple rumors of the Snyder Cut of Justice League it is still unclear of what the movie will actually look like.  The release of the film on HBO Max still hasn’t been decided except that it will be out during 2021.  I can only hope that HBO Max surprises us on January 1st with the first episode.
