Wonder Woman 1984 To Be Released Both In Theaters and On HBO Max

Wonder Woman

According to The Hollywood Reporter Wonder Woman 1984 will open both in theaters and on HBO Max on Christmas day. After much uncertainty about the film’s release, today we receive confirmation. As Professor Hulk once said, these are confusing times. It’s not often we have a major Hollywood blockbuster set to be released simultaneously in theaters and on a home platform.

Director Patty Jenkins had the following to say in a statement released on Wednesday.

“At some point, you have to choose to share any love and joy you have to give, over everything else. We love our movie as we love our fans, so we truly hope that our film brings a little bit of joy and reprieve to all of you this holiday season.”

CEO of WarnerMedia Studios and Networks Group, Ann Sarnoff:

“As we navigate these unprecedented times. We’ve had to be innovative in keeping our businesses moving forward while continuing to super-serve our fans. This is an amazing film that really comes to life on the big screen and, working with our partners in the exhibition community, we will provide that option to consumers in the U.S. where theaters are open. We realize that a lot of consumers can’t go back to the movies due to the pandemic, so we also want to give them the option to see Wonder Woman 1984 via our HBO Max platform.”

The only times I go to the theater anymore is for big superhero films such as these. And films that are set in a galaxy far, far away. So this is sort of bittersweet. Bitter in the sense that I don’t think theaters in my area will be open anytime soon. However, the sweet part is that the film is getting released and there will be no more delays. It’s been a long time waiting for the return of Diana Prince. Now we know in just over a month she will return with a new adventure.
