Jared Leto’s Joker. Was he miscast from the beginning? Maybe, and while I didn’t care for Leto’s Crown Prince of Crime, I think he did alright with what he was given. Especially considering this, odd version of the character. From the first image released of Leto in character, I was not a fan. I’ve mentioned before Leto’s portrayal wasn’t the problem, it was the character’s appearance. I mean come on, this version was hideous, and I mean Darth Hideous.
Most of us know The Joker for his brilliant schemes, as he is a criminal mastermind. While he also has street smarts, Leto’s Joker seemed to utilize only this aspect of the character. It seemed like Leto’s version was heavy-handed with the street smarts. And as such lacked the other kind of smarts that one would need to go up against Batman. Fresh off his unreal deal with HBOMax to bring fans the Snyder Cut of Justice League next year, director Zack Snyder was asked by a DC fan ReleaseTheAyerCut on Twitter his thoughts on Jared Leto’s Joker. Leto is a good actor, and he may have been right for the Joker, but I’m not sure anyone would have been right for this version of the villain. It reminds me of the time I bought a new Metallica album, and after listening to a few songs, began wondering what the f**k they were thinking on this one. Yeah, it was Load, which is far better than it’s successor Reload. And both are masterpieces compared to, what was it called again, oh yeah, “Lars Ulrich and his Echoing Snare Drum (Feat Metallica)”. Wait, my bad it was called St Anger.
It’s something like, yeah it’s the Joker, but I don’t really like this Joker, but out of love for the character in general, I will do my best to try and like it, but I just never could do it.
