Zemo’s back. Back again. Zemo’s back. Tell Bucky now! Watch out Bucky!
As we near the conclusion of WandaVision this Friday, Marvel Studios’ next offering is The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. The show is a continuation of the story in the Captain America side of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, without Steve Rogers. Instead, Bucky (Sebastian Stan) and Falcon (Anthony Mackie) are keeping up Rogers’ good fight. Which, will put them up against an old foe, Baron Zemo (Daniel Bruhl).
Last seen kicking it in a cell opposite Everett Ross (Martin Freeman), Zemo will return in Falcon and the Winter Soldier to give our heroes grief. Apparently, breaking up the Avengers wasn’t enough, even followed by an attack by Thanos.
The Direct has the Spring 2021 of Disney’s D23 magazine. In it, head writer of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier Kari Skogland went into detail about the evolution of Zemo in the new Disney+ series:
He’s very exciting to bring back because we’ve left him in a very dark place. And it’s interesting to go with him on this journey. What was fun about working with Daniel and all three of them is that we go on a very unexpected ride and we discover things about Baron Zemo we didn’t anticipate. As a result, we feel satisfied that the character is much more complex than we originally knew.

Mackie also got a chance to tease the return of one of the Avengers’ greatest and most effective foes:
After The Blip, the big thing now is: ‘How do we all fit in?’ Zemo is back and trying to fit in. And Zemo goes real bad real quick, so that’s a problem.
Sebastian Stan added:
Both Bucky and Zemo still have a bone to pick-certainly with each other, but maybe also with the world. So, his very inclusion was inevitable, in my opinion.
I am very excited to see the return of Zemo! I am really, really looking forward to The Falcon and the Winter Soldier‘s first episode on March 19th!
