One of the most fun things to see in the superhero team-up films is the way personalities mesh and clash with one another. When that first Avengers movie hit, audiences loved seeing Cap and Iron Man having different moral compasses, and they also loved seeing Stark and Banner bond over being the smartest two people in virtually every room they’re in.
Sure, action scenes are great, but it’s those kinds of interactions between characters that are the lifeblood of these movies, no matter how big or small the scale. Avengers: Infinity War will be no different. But how did the writers decide which characters would bond, and which would not? Speaking with CinemaBlend, screenwriters Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely discussed exactly that.

“After Civil War, we got in a room for 4 or 5 months trying to crack these two ridiculously big things…We talked a lot about, it’s a Joe Russo term, ‘strange alchemy.’ What is it when you put the two characters together, even in a fairly normal traditional situation. But since we’ve invested in those characters and known them, we sort of delighted in the idea of those two people rubbing against each other. So, we always chased ‘delight’ — and terror. Lots of terror.”
While we have seen some stuff in the trailers, there has been very little indication of which supers will team up. Yes, Thor will work with Rocket and Groot, and Stark will undoubtedly be annoyed by Star-Lord, but what about the other 167 superheroes? That remains to be seen.
Avengers: Infinity War hits theaters on April 27, 2018.
