When word came down that a sequel to 2012’s Wreck-It Ralph was in the works, many wondered where Ralph would go to wreck stuff next. Eventually the news came that Ralph and his pals were headed to the internet, which is a huge jump from Ralph and Co.’s 8-bit world. In speaking with LRM‘s own Gig Patta, Ralph Breaks the Internet story artist, Natalie Nourigat explains how the idea of Ralph wrecking, or rather breaking the internet came about.
“I’m not gonna pitch this right, but [co-director] Phil [Johnston], when they had the idea of going to the internet, Phil was like, well, ‘Ralph breaks things, what if Ralph breaks the internet? He declares war on the internet, like, ‘I’m gonna wreck it.'”

Ralph has a lot of Hulk like qualities, he is big, he is burly, adorable in his own way, and wrecking things is something both characters are known for, except Hulk smashes and Ralph wrecks.. The journey to the internet seems the natural path, and we all know wherever Ralph’s adventures may take him, he is sure to wreck something. However, the internet will be a formidable adversary, even to someone like Ralph.
