If the recently released trailer for The Suicide Squad taught us anything it’s that James Gunn knows how to handle teams of superheroes. Having done wonders with the previously little-known (to the moviegoing masses) Guardians of the Galaxy, the director appears to have another gem on his hands with what he’s done with DC’s team of ne’er-do-wells.
From what I’ve seen around the web, it seems fans approve of the trailer. For the most part, King Shark, voiced by Sylvester Stallone, stole the show (many fans are also ecstatic over the inclusion of Starro). However, those familiar with the character, especially comic book readers, wondered why King Shark is a great white, instead of a hammerhead. James Gunn took to his personal Twitter account to explain. You can check it out below.
I did tests with the hammerhead design, which I love & originally thought I’d use. But having eyes on the sides far apart made it incredibly awkward shooting interactions with other people. You couldn’t really see him looking at the other person & the shots tended to be too wide. https://t.co/7Pos3tZgma pic.twitter.com/GlIzjQjutU

That makes sense. King Shark is in prime position to become the next Groot (Baby Yoda to a lesser extent), except for the whole nom-nom/eating people thing. What I mean is DC is likely to cash in on a wide array of King Shark merch. And to that I say well done, DC.
The tone for The Suicide Squad trailer and hopefully the film was established (at least to some extent) by the use of Steely Dan’s “Dirty Work.” I’m not what you would call a fan of Steely Dan, I actually had to look up the song to see who performed it. However, this song was near-perfect for the trailer.
One other thing I find Gunn to excel at is the choice of accompanying music. He put together some amazing soundtracks for the Guardians films
