Director Of Impractical Jokers: The Movie Says The Film Had To Work Within The TV Show’s Dynamic

TruTv’s Impractical Jokers have provided viewers with plenty of laughs during the show’s run, making a game out of putting each other in awkward situations. Now the guys have jumped from the small screen to the big screen in Impractical Jokers: The Movie. You may be wondering how an entire film was made, considering the nature of the show.

Director Chris Henchy, who co-wrote the film with the Jokers, explains below that the film had to be.

“The story idea had to be good and had to work within an established dynamic”

Let me see if I can summarize the basic plot. The story flashes back to 1994, where a scheme to get the Jokers into a Paula Abdul concert ends up having Joe Gatto storm the stage, and Sal Vulcano being punched by Paula Abdul. The story then shifts to the present day where the Jokers are invited to a party by Abdul, who is now a fan of the Jokers. The problem is she only left three passes. How will they ever decide who gets to go? I think you know the answer, GAME ON!

While I doubt I will see this in theaters (I doubt there will be a showing in my area anyway) I will surely check this out once it becomes available on home and steaming platforms. The Tenderloins (The Jokers comedy troupe) have a unique sense of humor that veers from being a little corny to at times on the edge of being offensive.

Impractical Jokers: The Movie opens February 21.
