The Hollywood Reporter has announced that DJ Caruso (Disturbia, Eagle Eye) has signed on to direct “The Disappointments Room,” a supernatural thriller written by actor-writer Wentworth Miller (Prison Break).
This is only the second film written by Miller, who’s primarily known as an actor. Miller’s other writing credit was “Stoker,” the Nicole Kidman film that came out earlier this year. Interestingly, when he began submitting scripts he did so under the pseudonym Ted Foulke, which he told Movieline he did because he “just wanted the scripts to sink or swim on their own.”
The movie will follow a woman and her daughter who move to a colonial home in the country. The home, surprisingly, has a dark, violent past which soon starts to make the woman lose her mind as she starts having visions of a dead girl. Kate Beckinsale (Underworld, Serendipity) has been offered the lead role, with no other actors yet announced.
Media Talent Group is producing, with Relativity in final negotiations to distribute domestically.
