A New Image From The Bumblebee Spin-Off Film Shows The New Decepticons!

A new image from the Hailee Steinfeld led Transformers spin-off Bumblebee has been released. The photo gives us our first look at two of the film’s villains, who are muscle cars are named Shatter, voiced by actress Angela Bassett, and Dropkick, voiced by Justin Theroux. They are two of the three Decepticons that will appear in the film, all that is known about the remaining Decepticon is that it flies. However the film’s director says Shatter and Dropkick will have more personality than we are used to seeing from Decepticons.

“When the cast is too big, and you have a finite amount of time, there’s only so much you can do to create an investment in them. This is a more personal, intimate, and character-driven story, so it felt right to keep the villain plot relatively simple and contained. If you keep things lean, you can add a lot of other stuff on top of it that makes it more enjoyable.”

While the Transformers franchise has certainly had a dip in quality from the first film, if you grew up with the toys and the cartoon, you can still enjoy them to some extent. I wasn’t excited when I first heard of the Bumblebee spin-off, as much as I love the franchise, I thought it was time for a break. However, my attitude changed once I watched the trailer for the film. There seems to be a very different sort of tone with the upcoming film. Persoanlly I get the vibe of a quaint 80s film from the trailer.

Bumble is scheduled to hit theaters December 21.
