Actor Karl Urban has found his way into many iconic franchises, such as Judge Dredd, Star Trek, and of course, The Lord of the Rings. The actor recently stepped into the Marvel universe, appearing as Skurge in the fantastic Thor: Ragnarok. In a recent interview with JoBlo, Urban was asked his thoughts on playing everyone’s favorite vigilante from Gotham City, Batman.
“Wow. I don’t know. I haven’t really contemplated that. Usually the way the process works for me is I get sent projects, sent scripts and I read them, meet with the filmmakers and really on that basis choose to get involved. As far as Batman goes, I guess my favorite Batman movie was THE DARK KNIGHT. Chris Nolan is just an extraordinary director and I thought Christian Bale was a fantastic Batman and obviously with such talent like Heath Ledger that was the perfect comic book movie right there. So, I don’t know, I’m open to any and all opportunities.”

Whether or not Ben Affleck is still playing Batman seems to change by the day, so Urban coming on as the Bat isn’t totally out of the question (though Jake Gyllenhaal seems to be the frontrunner to replace Affleck). I for one would welcome Urban taking a turn as the Dark Knight. He has the chops, he has the look, and I just think he wouldn’t have much of a problem pulling off the role.
