Alex Lawther Cast In Andor Rumor | Barside Buzz

Rumored New Andor Details Around A Scrapper Planet | Barside Buzz

According to a new report from The Direct, young actor Alex Lawther cast in Andor. The upcoming Star Wars Disney+ show has been filming for some time and unlike many of the other Star Wars shows is not using The Volume. Instead the Andor shoot has been mostly location shooting and thus the production time has been much longer. Of course there are also rumors that Andor will be a much larger show than the likes of even The Mandalorian in terms of episode count. Alternatively you’ll hear that Andor has secretly also been filming Season 2 at the same time.

The truth will out eventually, but it is a surprise to find out about a new casting so far into production. Unless of course, one of those rumors above is correct? Here is what The Direct had to say.

The Direct can exclusively report that actor Alex Lawther will play a supporting role in Star Wars: Andor. Lawther, known for his leading role in The End of the F***ing World, is the latest to join Diego Luna in the Rogue One prequel.

Additional details regarding Lawther’s character and prominence in the series are currently unknown

Perhaps Lawther’s casting was simply something that skipped under the radar until picked up by the outlet. Of course without further confirmation we need to treat this as a Barside Buzz for now. However, in my experience casting reports like this from a show already going, very rarely turn out to be incorrect. I’ll guess The Direct have got this one on the nose, and who knows, this could be a very small role, which might be why the trades haven’t picked it up yet?

I know LRM has had a lot of inside information about Lucasfilm projects recently, but I have to be honest and say we’ve heard nothing about Andor. Most of what we know has come from the location shoots taking place across the globe, probably most consistently from the U.K. I do find myself a lot more intrigued by Andor than I did when the show was first announced. I was on the ‘we don’t need this’ train. However I think this could actually turn out to be pretty great and unlike most Star Wars content we are familiar with. Time will tell, Andor is rumored to be heading to Disney+ sometime in 2022.
