Andor Season 2 Rumor Debunked? Plus Royal Guards Rumored | Barside Buzz

Rumored New Andor Details Around A Scrapper Planet | Barside Buzz

A recent Andor Season 2 rumor debunked by Disney! Plus we have a rumor that the Royal Guards will appear in the upcoming Star Wars Disney+ show. However let’s start with the season 2 news. MSW recently ran an article claiming that Andor S2 would begin filming this November in Elstree Studio. Here is the info from the source.

‘My sources at Elstree tell me season two of Andor will film this November. Bespin Bulletin also heard November. But there is something strange about the information. The production time is saying 18 months for this production. That is extraordinarily long. So we can speculate it means another production from Lucasfilm is also coming to Elstree’s space, they’re filming two more seasons of Andor, or they are taking their sweet time (which I doubt). You could probably film Rogue Squadron as well with that much time.’

However since this report was run a Disney source reached out to be Screen Rant has debunked the information without giving too many details.

While reports from Making Star Wars fall in line with Skarsgård’s words about an autumnal start to filming for Andor season 2, a spokesperson from Disney has since told Screen Rant that this rumor is not true. Making Star Wars had shared that a source from Elstree Studios, where the original Star Wars trilogy was filmed, said that filming for the series’ sophomore season would begin in November.

Strange one this. As both articles allude to, actor Stellan Skarsgard recently said Andor S2 would film around that time period. So I’m not sure exactly what aspects of this report Disney is debunking? That it will film in Elstree? That it will have an unusually long shoot (so did Season 1 actually)? I have no idea and will leave it you to make conclusions.

Three Seasons?

We also have Andor‘s director of photography seemingly conforming that Andor will now be three Seasons in total, down from five originally.  Check it out.

Royal Guards

Ok, oldies like me probably know them better as Crimson Guards, but the dudes in red uniforms are rumored to make an appearance in Andor Season 1 as per a report by Bespin Bulletin.

I was first told of an Imperial Royal Guards appearance in Andor well over six months ago, but thought nothing much of it as the information didn’t come from a regular source. However it’s now something I’ve heard off and on for a number of months following, but not from my usual trustworthy sources and that is why I’m stressing you take this information as a rumour.

The reason I’m running this piece as a rumour is due to a recent report from Star Wars Meg (previously reported the Hutts would appear in Fett) who has heard that Mas Amedda is making an appearance in the upcoming Rogue One spin-off series, Andor, and that his scenes are set in the present day and are not flashbacks. Amedda was Vice Chair of the Galactic Senate and became the Grand Vizier of the galactic Empire once Palpatine declared himself the Galactic Emperor. The setting I was told the Royal Guards appear was that of the senate, so with Meg’s report and the information I was told, the two seems to support one another.

Interesting to see if this pans out. Could there be some kind of assassination plot around Amedda that forms part of the plot of Andor. Or, even an attempt on Papa Palps himself? I’ve heard very little about Andor compared to other projects. Therefore I won’t comment other than to say, watch this space.

What do you think of all this as the Andor Season 2 rumor debunked by Disney? Are you excited about the possibility of Royal Guards appearing in Andor? Thoughts below.
