Antoine Fuqua is set to direct a remake of one of the most beloved gangster films of all time, Scarface. The role made famous by the legendary Al Pacino, is yet to be cast. While there are many actors with the necessary skills to step into the role, Fuqua has one actor in particular in mind, the great Denzel Washington.
“My dream is for him to be Scarface. He laughs sometimes and he kind of goes, ‘[Al] Pacino did a great job! I don’t want to do that.’ I’m nudging him. I’m trying to nudge him into doing it.”

Who doesn’t love Denzel?
Not sure how closely Fuqua’s version will follow the story of the original film, but Washington seems to be a bit older than Pacino was when he originally played the character back in the early 80s. Having a name as big as Denzel Washington would likely do much to calm any doubts fans of the original film may have (as is common with the remake of any cherished piece of cinema). Though from Fuqua’s words above, Denzel doesn’t seem big on stepping into such an iconic role. I for one hope Fuqua can convince Washington to give it a shot.
