Avengers: Infinity War Almost Brought This Cosmic Character Into The Fold

Avengers: Infinity War has a ridiculous amount of characters in the film, in a good way of course. What of the characters that didn’t quite make the cut? One half of the writing duo for the film, Christopher Markus, who co-wrote the film with Stephen McFeely (the writing team is also responsible for the three Captain America films), recently spoke with Entertainment Weekly, and spoke about a character that almost made it into the film, not just any character, a cosmic one:

“Well, there are some in the original Infinity Gauntlet series that are– Like, we didn’t introduce Adam Warlock, because it’s a massive backbend and you practically have to make an Adam Warlock movie to introduce him. He just can’t walk onscreen. So, there was a brief moment where we were like, Ehhh, and then we were like– [He points to the movie’s poster.] We have that many characters already! And then there were others we couldn’t use. Like, Silver Surfer would have been useful, but we can’t touch him. Currently.”

While Adam Warlock certainly would have been cool to see in the film, I agree with Markus in the character needs an entire film to be introduced, or at least one that isn’t so crowded. The writers already had to deal with the incredible burden of finding screen time for the army of characters that do appear in the film. Seeing how Adam Warlock is affiliated with the Guardians of the Galaxy, perhaps the third installment into that franchise can be used as a way to introduce the Adam Warlock.
