As per THR, Barry star Anthony Carrigan has been cast as Metamorpho in Superman: Legacy. This follows on from some more ancilliary heroes being cast that we shared yesterday for the movie. There do remain some key roles still to cast for Legacy. However, many in the industry are expecting we could get announcements on more by midnight tonight. An Actors Guild strike is expected to kick in at midnight, if it does then no actors can agree, or sign contracts without breaking picket lines. Many in this entertainment news business think this is why we are getting so much Superman casting news this week, I agree.

There could be many more roles to cast for this film as we have no idea which characters James Gunn is using outside of those already announced. What we can say for certain, is that three key roles remain to be filled as of writing. Lex Luthor, Jimmy Olsen and Perry White will all need to be cast and have been confirmed by Gunn as being in the movie. However, there could be other DC heroes, or villains still to be cast we don’t know about3? It’s not like we expected Metamorpho to show up in this, is it?

As with the previous casting news some fans took to social media to query why all these non-Superman specific characters are showing up. Gunn, as per usual explained succinctly in his reply?

“Superman is a man of two worlds: Clark with Lois, Jimmy and Perry – and Superman with his meta human compatriots, How could I tell a full story about Clark/Superman without including all areas of his life?”

Carrigan himself replied to the thread saying,

“Honored.. Psyched. Ready. Let’s go.”

I’ll guess I’m in the minority a little in that I’ve never watched Barry. I know it has been a popular show. I am therefore in no real place to judge Carrigan’s suitability for the role. In fact, I remember very little about the Metamorpho character. I’ve definitley read comics where he showed up briefly, but that’s as far as I recall.

I said in yesterdays casting news that I like the fact this Superman story begins in an already established DCU with heroes, meta humans and more. Of course it all depends on the story being told, which we currently have no sight of.
