Captain Marvel: First Look At Skrulls And The Film’s Main Baddie

It’s taken a solid ten-plus years, but an entire race of infamous Marvel baddies are on their way to the big screen very soon with the latest chapter in the MCU, Captain Marvel. As many comic fans know, this race can actually shapeshift, and it’s this ability that allows them to capture and replace many heroes of our planet.

While I don’t think we’ll be getting that Secret Invasion plotline in full (though you never know — I didn’t think we’d ever get Civil War), we will be seeing these aliens en masse from the looks of it. In A NEW IMAGE from EW, we see the Skrulls emerging from the ocean on the beach. Leading them is Talos, played by Ben Mendelsohn.

However, because of the shapeshifty nature of the Skrulls, he also has the standard appearance of an Earthling in the film, WHICH YOU CAN SEE HERE. In the story, he’s working on Earth in an effort to undermine S.H.I.E.L.D. To what end remains to be seen.

All I can say is that I pray for the day that Ben Mendelsohn can join a big blockbuster without playing the bad guy. As of this writing, he’s played the part in films like Rogue One: A Star Wars Story and Ready Player One already.
