UPDATE: Corey Van Dyke over at Kessel Run Transmissions has corroborated our Cara Dune scoop with the following tweet.
We can definitely back this up as it’s something we heard from some of our sources awhile back. Cara will probably have a little help from some friends in this series though… https://t.co/HM2i2Bycji

ORIGINAL STORY:
It is exciting to think that we are just a couple weeks away from the Season 2 premiere of The Mandalorian. It is hard to imagine that just a year ago this show would be leading to a wider universe of shows on Disney+. Should we have expected anything different? No because “This is the way”. Leading up to the upcoming season LRM have heard rumors of potential spin-off shows starring Ahsoka Tano, Boba Fett, and Ezra Bridger. It seems that we can add another potential project to be added to that list.
Our source at Lucasfilm has given us some new information. That there is a big push for Cara Dune, played by Gina Carano, to get her own spin-off series on Disney+.
This news comes on the heels of the CEO of Disney, Bob Chapek, making the announcement of the restructuring of Disney entertainment. Namely a big push for Disney+ Originals. With the recent success of the streaming service subscriptions, Chapek wants a constant flow of Disney+ content in the future. With the pandemic putting a halt on movie theater releases and productions, the focus for Disney is its streaming service. This has led to a push from all of Disney’s properties to focus their attention to content focused for Disney+. It seems like the idea of a Cara Dune show could be the result of these recent changes.

We don’t have any details about what the show would be about. My personal guess would be a prequel series to when we are introduced to Cara in The Mandalorian. This would be very similar to what Lucasfilm is already doing with the Cassian Andor series. Cara’s backstory is that she was a human female Alderaanian. Cara served as a shock trooper in the Alliance during the Galactic Civil War. This could allow Gina Carano to tell Cara’s origin story, and how she came to be the person she is.
As a fan of Gina Carano going all the way back to her MMA days in Strikeforce, I hope that this really does happen. What do you think? Would you watch a Cara Dune spin-off show? Let us know in the comments below.
