Chaos Walking from Lionsgate is one of those films that has been around for a while, similar to New Mutants. You know the film that kept getting pushed back for every reason imaginable? It had begun filming back in 2017 and had a March 2019 release date. But it had been reported that after really bad test screenings, Lionsgate spent somewhere around $100 million on reshoots. Ouch! Another issue was the availability of both stars of the film Tom Holland and Daisy Ridley. You know? Spider-Man and Ray Palpatine (or Skywalker whatever)?
Fast forward now to the end of 2020 and we have our first trailer for Chaos Walking. You can check it out below!
Synopsis for Chaos Walking:
In the not too distant future, Todd Hewitt (Tom Holland) discovers Viola (Daisy Ridley), a mysterious girl who crash lands on his planet, where all the women have disappeared and the men are afflicted by “the Noise” – a force that puts all their thoughts on display. In this dangerous landscape, Viola’s life is threatened – and as Todd vows to protect her, he will have to discover his own inner power and unlock the planet’s dark secrets.
Joining Ridley and Holland in the film are Mads Mikkelsen, Demián Bichir, Cynthia Erivo, Nick Jonas, Kurt Sutter, and David Oyelowo. The film is being directed by Doug Liman. The screenplay is by Patrick Ness and Christopher Ford. Based on the book by Ness titled, The Knife of Never Letting Go. Chaos Walking is produced by Doug Davison, Allison Shearmur, Erwin Stoff, and Alison Winter.
This film has an interesting concept. I look forward to seeing it play out on screen. I do wonder what they had to change after the test screenings that cost so much. What do you think of our first look at Chaos Walking? Let us know in the comment section below!
