Chris Evans In Talks To Star In Little Shop Of Horrors

The film turned Broadway musical comedy, Little Shop of Horrors, is working hard to bring in several well known actors and actresses to the reboot that is being directed by Greg Berlanti. They have already signed Billy Porter to the film and are in different stages of negotiations with both Scarlett Johansson and Taron Egerton for lead roles. Now another well know actor is being courted to star in the film.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Avengers’ alumni Chris Evans is in negotiations to play the role of the dentist, Orin Scrivello. This character is the abusive and sadistic boyfriend of Audrey. He finds great pleasure in his profession as he loves to use laughing gas. The role comes with the signature song titled, “Dentist!”.

This reboot of Little Shop of Horrors is based on the 1960 Roger Corman film that was then as mentioned above adapted into a musical in the 80’s and then again a film in 1986 where Steve Martin played the dentist. The story follows a character named Seymour, a meek florist that is secretly in love with his co-worker Audrey. He then becomes a celebrity when he discovers a venus flytrap looking plant that he strangely names, Audrey II. But this becomes problematic when the plant demands to be fed human blood and eventually people.

If the negotiations go well the Little Shop of Horrors could possibly reunite Evans with Johannson who both starred in several Marvel Cinematic Universe films over the past decade. Evans also recently played a key character in Knives Out. Up next for him will be a limited series drama from Apple+ titled, Defending Jacob. This isn’t the first time he has played a crazy boyfriend kind of character. In the 2010 fantasy/action film, Scott Pilgram vs. the World, Evans played one of Ramona Flower’s ex-boyfriends.

Hopefully they can sign the actors and actresses they are looking for as it looks like a fun film. Especially knowing that Porter would be the one voicing Audrey II. What do you think of the names attached to the Little Shop of Horrors film? Let us know in the comment section below!
