Chris Hemsworth Almost Passed On Thor Role

There have been a number of actors turn down movie roles that went on to be iconic. Will Smith turned down the role of Neo in The Matrix, Sean Connery turned down the role of Gandalf in The Lord of the Rings, and while he didn’t turn it down, Tom Selleck had to give up the part of Indiana Jones due to his work on Magnum P.I., leaving fans wondering what might have been.

Chris Hemsworth, the actor who plays Thor in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, was close to becoming part of what could have been club, as he initially hesitated committing to the role of Thor.

The actor recently appeared on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, and talked about almost passing on the biggest role of his career:

“I might have had a hesitation, you know, and i kinda wanna get a time machine and go back and slap that younger, pretentious version of myself.”

Hemsworth continued:

“I think my hesitation was just I had no idea what it was going to be. How long, if it was going to be a good experience or bad and thankfully it was the best experience I’ve ever had, and we just wrapped Avengers 4, so that’s kind of it now.”

As with the roles I mentioned at the beginning of the article, it would be hard to imagine anyone else as Thor now that Hemsworth has made the role his own. The movies may not have been the best of the MCU, but Hemsworth has been great as Thor.

Which other actors do you think would have made a good or perhaps even better Thor? Let us know in the comments down below!
