This week was the release of Paramount Pictures’ Clifford the Big Red Dog. The lovable red pup has won the hearts of many kids over the decades. The friendship between Emily Elizabeth and Clifford has been something that everyone has always hoped to have with their four-legged friends. Now with this feature film, we get a look at how this friendship began.
But this story wouldn’t be complete without an antagonist, a villain. Being that we are in 2021 and this is a family film, why not simplify the job to a selfish businessman looking to exploit Clifford? The film does a good job of showcasing a company that is trying to make bigger food and clone animals. When they learn about Clifford, they make it their priority to bring him in for testing. Cruel right?

Here is the synopsis for Clifford the Big Red Dog
When middle-schooler Emily Elizabeth (Darby Camp) meets a magical animal rescuer (John Cleese) who gifts her a little, red puppy, she never anticipated waking up to find a giant ten-foot hound in her small New York City apartment. While her single mom (Sienna Guillory) is away for business, Emily and her fun but impulsive uncle Casey (Jack Whitehall) set out on an adventure that will keep you on the edge-of-your-seat as our heroes take a bite out of the Big Apple. Based on the beloved Scholastic book character, Clifford will teach the world how to love big!
