According to the latest Barside Buzz, Daniel Craig has been approached to play Doctor Doom in the MCU. At least that what Jeff Sneider has heard on the Buzz. As you cab see below though, not all leakers are in agreement. Following Sneider’s claim on his The InSneider website MTTSH said that she has heard another name. Sadly, she does not share that other name. Check it out.

[EDIT: As informed by my colleague Gig Patta: The source, Jeff Sneider, already debunked this. He said in the podcast that seeing him as Dr. Doom would be nice. His words were taken out of context is that Marvel is trying to approach him for a role. Sorry about that folks, I had not heard this when I published yesterday. So it looks like we are left with whoever MTTSH has heard and she isn’t sharing for now. ]

So which one is correct? I have no idea, what UIU will say is that Sneider’s credibility for leak accuracy has gone up lately and MTTSH has gone down a little. Does that mean anything in this particular argument? No, in  fact it’s possible Marvel have approached more than one actor to sound them out. After all, you need someone willing to play Doom for like the next decade. I also think whoever gets the gig needs to be happy with just teases and small cameos for a whilst yet. The threat of Doom needs to be built up so that when he does arrive as either a lead character or a lead antagonist he’s ready.

Would Craig be a good Doom? Um, yep, Craig would be awesome. However he would also I’m guessing be quite expensive. Sadly my other two favourites will be also, Adam Driver and Cillian Murphy. If I had to choose someone less expensive but still proven quality I’ll go Nikolaj Coster-Waldau. He was phenomenal in Game of Thrones and yet it has not really made him a star.

It does seem like Fantastic Four will film by Summer and though not a major part we have heard Doom appears. That means Marvel needs to get this casting sorted soon. I would however guess that they may try and keep the identity secret till the film hits. If not, then they’ll do some kind of announcement at SDCC.

I guess for now we will just have to wait and see. But if they are looking at Daniel Craig or actors of that calibre, we could be in for a treat.
