Daredevil Canon Or Not? Marvel Website Hints It Might Be

In a recent interview Vincent D'Onofrio comments on those recent Spider-Man 4 rumors, he seems keen, but also claims to know nothing.

Is Daredevil canon or not? Just to be clear I mean the series, which ran for 3 seasons on Netflix, not the character, who is 100% canon to the MCU now. With the same question debated around Wilson Fisk’s return also, it’s something fans want to know?

Will Murdock and Fisk from the MCU be variants and therefore the events of Daredevil 1-3 didn’t actually happen? Or will these shows be confirmed as canon and the MCU versions will just carry on from there? Since i loved Daredevil S1-S3 I know what I want. However that is not relevant to the answer.

Interestingly there has been a Daredevil update on Marvel.com. It covers Daredevil on screen and the summary, plus many of the images are from S1-S3, which I think we all know now has it’s permanent home on Disney+. This seems to me there’s a good chance Marvel Studios has decided to make Daredevil and the other Defenders shows canon. If that is so, then I think it’s a good thing.

I was not a massive fan of all those shows, but Daredevil at least was absolutely stellar. I simply think all that story being canon enriches the MCU rather than detracts from it. I’m not sure I could offer the same praise to the other Defenders shows like Jessica Jones, but here we are?

However, whether I liked those other shows or not (some were ok mostly), that still doesn’t cause an issue if they are made canon. New stories can still be told if and when Marvel Studios wants to do that. I therefore sincerely hope that Daredevil 1-3 is canon. Hopefully we get a Season 4 that mostly picks up from where things have gone previously. Whether it’s toned down for a PG-13 audience or not, it’s all about the writing.

Is Daredevil canon or not? Additionally, do you want it to be or not? Thoughts below as always.
