Dark Phoenix To Close Chapter On X-Men And New Mutants Officially Being Released

Fans have waited in anticipation, but it’s finally official. Fox’s catalog of Marvel characters has joined the house that Walt Disney built. Recently during CinemaCon, a presentation was played and among the characters present were Deadpool and Wolverine. During the presentation, Disney shared their full 2019 schedule of movie releases. Among the films announced were New Mutants and Dark Phoenix.

After the film’s release, Disney will likely recast the lineup of X-Men characters to fit into the fold of their shared superhero universe. During the presentation, Disney chief Alan Horn commented on Dark Phoenix stating it is the perfect sendoff for our X-Men team,” and the “final chapter” for the X-Men world. Disney is closing this chapter on the X-Men franchise. I’m stoked as it opens an entire new world of possibilities for the X-Men. Disney’s doing a fantastic job with The Avengers and the world building that went into that was stellar. Who doesn’t love comic book accurate costumes? So, here’s to tossing out those leather bodysuits and bringing in some colorful costumes, hopefully.

It’s also interesting to hear Horn confirm that New Mutants will indeed get a theatrical release. The film has been plagued by multiple release date push backs and re-shoots. Originally slated to hit theaters last year on April 13, 2018, the current release date is August 2, 2019. It sounds like Disney cares that their new characters get the proper ride into the sunset they deserve. Are you looking forward to a re-imagining of the X-Men?
