Executive producer Dave Filoni of The Mandalorian is probably the best piece of Star Wars content since Disney bought the franchise in 2012. Well, that is my opinion anyway. Filoni says the show has received praise from the man who created a galaxy far, far away in George Lucas.
Filoni recently spoke with /Film and talked about his conversations with Lucas and how the Star Wars creator gets to watch the show, from our point of view. Check out what Filoni had to say down below.
“He’s been very complimentary. I think he’s enjoyed the show, and he said once [that] now he gets to watch it as a fan and watch it as a viewer.”
Filoni says his talks with Lucas are more to learn than hear Lucas’ opinion on Star Wars content. And he also feels a obligated to pass on what he learns to the rest of the crew.
“I like to get more knowledge. He’ll give me some reminders, especially before I shoot something, about how many setups I should try to get in a day, and I might rack his brain for certain things about how to cover a scene.”
It seems like Dave Filoni is on the path one day (hopefully soon) to get his own Star Wars film, or better yet give the man his own trilogy. Personally, I think the projects Filoni has produced are top-notch and has given us the best Star Wars content since the original trilogy.
