While Deadpool 2‘s post-credit scenes were absolutely brilliant, you may be wondering if Wade bringing back Vanessa and Peter is what really happened, or if it was just a nice fantasy. Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick (who co-wrote the film along with Ryan Reynolds) recently spoke with CinemaBlend and confirmed that as far as the film is concerned, what happened was real and that those characters saved in the end, may return.

Rhett Reese:

“We invalidated the whole movie. We’re telling everybody, ‘You didn’t even need to be here for two hours, because everything is solved!’ But yeah, we do at least want to leave the possibility open for Vanessa and Peter.”

Paul Wernick:

“It was one of those things where we all looked at it, and go, ‘Yeah, I mean on a purely tactical screenwriting basis it’s probably not the wisest thing to do, but it was just too funny and so much fun that I think the audience will forgive us for doing it, because time travel, in general, is kind of a funky thing. And so we just took our license with it and made it Deadpool.”

This is something I have been wondering since I watched the film Saturday night. I think that the Deadpool franchise is one of the few where it’s ok to use time travel in this manner. Killing Vanessa was shocking in the first place. I was ok with it, but I am also ok with bringing her back. And Pete, they have to bring Petey back right? This really isn’t all that different than what will likely happen in Avengers 4.
