A week today on February 9th sees the release of Destiny 2 Season 13. Here you can catch the latest trailer for the upcoming update to the base game. Season 13 is named ‘Season of the Chosen’ and it appears to feature an attempted alliance between the Cabal’s new leader and the Guardians. The new Cabal leader, Empress Caiatl wishes the Guardians to ‘bend the knee’ to her. Caiatl’s theory seems to be that if the Guardians follow her rule, together they can defeat the encroaching darkness.
Instead, Caital is rejected and that probably means players will spend the season fighting the Empress and her Cabal forces. Check out the new trailer from Bungie below.
As for the content in Destiny 2 Season 13y, we only know a little. One thing different his year in Destiny 2 is that previous seasonal content will stick around for the rest of the year. That means previous season Wrathborn hunts will still be playable for the rest of this year. That’s in addition to a new seasonal activity which will also see the return of Umbral Engrams for players.

Bungie has already detailed some of the balance changes for this new season with a series of nerfs and buffs. Swords, the current best DPS weapons’ in the game are getting a blanket 15% damage reduction. I just hope that is not too much of a nerf that it makes the weapon class useless again. I’m likely biased though due to having some really great sword builds already. As for the counter to this nerf, Legendary Rocket Launchers are getting a blanket 30% damage increase. Therefore is Season 12 was season of the sword, Season 13 could become season of the rockets. However, that remains to be tested, and players will always choose the best DPS weapons for their heavy slot.
To access Destiny 2 Season 13 you will need to own the base game along with the most recent expansion Beyond Light. However, for gamers on Xbox Game Pass, Destiny 2 and the latest expansion are available as part of the service. There is an additional Season Pass cost for each new Season of Destiny 2. However, this is a somewhat optional purchase. For this Destiny fan, and also Game Pass subscriber, that works out around $10 a season, which I feel is worth it.
