We’ve been covering the rumors of this for a while, and it was just a case of waiting. Now, Disney has finally announced those rumored big Marvel delays. Additionally, Disney announces Avatar delays for all upcoming sequels. We also covered earlier three new dates for the next Star Wars movies, but you can see that one on the front page already.
Let’s start with Marvel because even before the WGA strike, there were rumors of a huge delay to the announced MCU slate with the Avengers movies falling years out from initial dates. The main reason rumored for this was the change at the head of Disney and current CEO Bob Iger wishing to focus on quality over quantity. Box office had fallen, reviews got worse, and fans complained about some TV series and movies as well.
That being said, the reported reasons for these delays (according to Variety‘s coverage) is the WGA strike which is ongoing.
MCU
For Marvel, the first movie to discuss is actually moving up closer.
Deadpool 3 will now release on May 3, 2024, previously it was not out till November next year. The rest listed below are all delayed.
Captain America: Brave New World new release date is July 26, 2024.
Thunderbolts new release date is Dec. 20, 2024.
Blade new release date is Feb. 14, 2025.
Fantastic Four moves to May 2, 2025.
Avengers: The Kang Dynasty moves to May 1, 2026, which is a delay of en entire year.
Avengers: Secret Wars is now delayed till May 7, 2027.
So far there is now news of delays to Disney+ shows, however we imagine those undated will also suffer delays. Unlike movies, the Disney+ shows never get fully dated until closer to release.

As said up top, Avatar is also getting some delays to the upcoming sequels, currently only named Avatar 3-5. It’s now going to be the ’30’s before this franchise ends.
Avatar 3 has moved to Dec. 19, 2025.
Avatar 4 is now Dec. 21, 2029.
Avatar 5 will finally appear on Dec. 19, 2031.
For those wondering why such a huge gap between Avatar 3 and 4, that’s because 90% of Avatar 3 was filmed during the shoot for Avatar: The Way of Water, and there was even one Avatar 4 scene filmed for later. However, the rest of Avatar 4 will have to be actually shot. I assume the plan is to almost shoot 4 and 5 back to back, like they did with 2 and 3.
What do you think of the news Disney has finally announced those rumored big Marvel delays? What do you think of the Avatar delays also? Thoughts below as always.
