Joaquin Phoenix brings his all to any role he does. We all remember that incredibly awkward interview on David Letterman, and remember all too well just how deep he was willing to for a mockumentary. We also saw him jump into the role of the Joker, going on to deliver a memorable performance worthy of many accolades, including a nomination for a Best Lead Actor Oscar.

So, what’s next for this uber-serious thespian? Well, the role of Captain Hook, of course! According to the folks over at the Illuminerdi, the Joker star has been offered the role of the embittered one-handed pirate in Disney’s upcoming live-action film, Peter and Wendy.

But, before you start voicing your concerns over Phoenix cutting off his left hand to better get acquainted with the role, at this point he has not accepted the role. In fact, there are no indications that he has had any real formal discussions with Disney over the role. The outlet also had an official breakdown for the character.

“An unhinged, dramatic, and menacing swordsman, who is out to seek revenge on Peter Pan for cutting his hand off and feeding it to a crocodile. When Hook takes Wendy’s brothers John and Michael hostage he uses them as bait to lure Peter Pan.”

Well, if they’re looking for “unhinged,” they are certainly looking at the right actor.

Phoenix may not be the only DC actor to join the film. Last we heard, Birds of Prey’s Margot Robbie was also being considered for the role of Tinker Bell. This at least puts into perspective the caliber of actor Disney is looking at for their latest live-action adaptation.
