It looks like we will be getting more of Doctor Strange in the next phase of Marvel movies. With the upcoming Spider-Man supposedly starting filming soon it is expected that leaks would start to come out. While we reported earlier that the Doctor Strange sequel, The Multiverse of Madness, would begin filming at the end of the month, it seems that Benedict Cumberbatch will be wearing his cloak for another movie as well.
According to a new report from The Hollywood Reporter they are claiming that Benedict Cumberbatch will be reprising his role as Doctor Strange in Spider-Man 3. They claim that Strange will be in the movie as Peter Parker’s mentor. This actually makes a lot of sense since it was Tony Stark who was Peter’s mentor in the Spider-Man Homecoming and then Nick Fury in Spider-Man Far From Home. It’s a part of Spider-Man’s lore that he always has a father figure around him to guide him through difficult times.

The news of Cumberbatch joining the movie is great it still isn’t as crazy as the rumor that Jamie Foxx reprising his role as Electro. Doctor Strange could be the link that would allow Jamie Foxx’s Electro to enter the new Marvel Universe. Remember Jamie Foxx starred alongside Andrew Garfield in The Amazing Spider-Man 2 which had no connection to the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Spider-Man 3 is due to begin shooting in Atlanta later in October while Multiverse of Madness is also due to begin shooting this month, although in London. It is unclear when and where Cumberbatch will shoot his scenes. Having Spider-Man 3 take place after the Doctor Strange sequel probably makes the most sense if all these rumors are true.
Let’s not forget one of the classic scenes from Avengers Infinity War came from this duo.
