Personally, one of my favorite perks about being in a healthy relationship is not having that pressure of having to date. There are so many variables to consider. For example, one person may be very picky with their selection. Others may be scarred from the wounds of past relationships. While others could be persuing someone that may not be available at the moment for various reasons. The point is that there are hundreds of factors that could discourage a person from getting out there.

Lucky for most people, they can count on a few good friends to root them in their pursuit of happiness. This is the case in the upcoming feature film, Don’t Waste Your Pretty. It’s premiering on TV One this Sunday, February 28th. The film stars Keri Hilson, Deborah Joy Winans, Rhetoric Williams, Jasmine Burke, Kaye Singleton, and Rainey Branch. The film is based on the book that was written by award-winning author and media personality, Demetria L. Lucas. It is directed by the very talented Tamara Bass.

Here is the synopsis for Don’t Waste Your Pretty

After years of extreme career focus, Mykah (Hilson) finally stops making excuses and starts looking for love. Encouraged by her best friends, Mykah embraces the dating scene by taking their suggestions on speed dating, making online connections, and hitting the nightlife. But she soon discovers love might be right in front of her. The recent divorcée Jeanné (Wynans) has put the idea of love on ice but has to decide if the burning flame from Mykah’s twin brother Michael (Williams) is warm enough to melt her heart again. Fun-loving, married couple Amma (Singleton) and Aisha (Burke) are #couplegoals of the group but struggle to strike a balance as they embark on their parenthood journey. When jobs, romance, and family interactions prove more complicated than they had ever anticipated, the group of friends knows they can always turn to one another to figure out their next move.

Ahead of the release of Don’t Waste Your Pretty, LRM Online had the pleasure of conversating with Deborah Joy Winans. In the film, she plays the role of a recent divorcee named Jeanne. During our conversation, we talk about the difficulties one can face in trying to get back into dating after a marriage that ended on a sour note. We also talk about the power of having true friends.
