Before we get into this, I want to shout out towards BSL of OneTakeNews, who actually beat THR to the punch on this one by several minutes, to an hour. According to both BSL and now THR, the Everything, Everywhere creators the Daniels will direct Star Wars: Skeleton Crew. For now it seems like the show will have multiple directors and there will be more to discover. However according to the trade, the directing pair will helm at least one episode of the upcoming Star Wars series on Disney+.
Everything, Everywhere, All at Once is pretty hot right now after cleaning up at this year’s Oscars awards. The picture won Best Film, Best Director and Best Original Screenplay, all on the Daniels. However even outside of the Daniels the film also won Best Actress, and Best Supporting Actor also, plus more. To say it was a bit of a clean sweep is an understatement, and as such the Daniels are hot, hot talent right now.
It’s likely that the deal to direct on Skeleton Crew was handled before the recent Oscars win, but who knows for sure?
Sadly, I’ve yet to watch Everything, Everywhere and I need to rectify that as soon as I can. I may look at find where it’s showing this weekend if it’s on home release already. Normally Oscar winning films won’t make me rush out to see them. However that movie has great word of mouth from critics I value and friends who’s opinion I trust.

As for Skeleton Crew, well it’s been filming recently and is set for release we think sometimes late 2023 or even early 2024. The series was created by Spider-Man: No Way Home director Jon Watts. However, for now we have no idea if Watt’s is also directing any episodes of the show.
Recent rumors that the Mandalorian pirates would show up gave me some cause for concern. I simply disliked their design. However, I’m still excited to see where Skeleton Crew goes and look forward to finding out. Who knows what other big name directors, or upcoming talent has been lined up for Skeleton Crew? Look at some of the names we’ve had so far in the MandoVerse on Disney+.
