Exploring The Potential Of A New Predator Movie Set In The Amazon Rainforest

The Predator franchise has been a staple of sci-fi cinema for a very long time. Since its debut in 1987, the franchise has seen several releases, with each one adding depth and complexity to the series. We’ve seen the movies explore icy wastelands, futuristic landscapes and even the jungles in Central America.

The new movie, Predator: Badlands which is set for release in December is taking place on a distant alien planet too, but for future releases, taking it back to basics and revisiting the Amazon Jungle could be an exciting concept, as it will showcase the deadly nature of Predator, while going back to what made the original movie so special.

Delving into The Amazon Jungle

Setting the movie in the Amazon Rainforest would open a lot of doors for a new movie. Inspiration could be taken from classic movies such as Anaconda, to Eli Roth’s The Green Inferno. It would also be possible to take inspiration from games set in the Amazon, including Green Hell. This is a survival game set in the heart of the Amazon, where players have to navigate challenges such as isolation, wildlife, and hunger. Survival mechanics include building shelter and crafting.

Even the jungle-themed graphics of slots and games like Amazon Kingdom could serve as inspiration. These games have grown in popularity over time. They also feature exotic animals, jungle templates, and the exploration of mysterious treasures, which would work well with the film’s aesthetic. The unpredictability of slot games also works well with the unpredictability of the Amazon, with every decision having an unpredictable outcome.

In the movie, showing previous encounters with Predators, and their presence over time could also work well, showing near-endless potential for future filmmakers. There is also potential for scenes where people are not only hunted by the Predator but also the lethal creatures that the Amazon Rainforest is home to.

Elevating Tension

The Amazon Rainforest is one of the most biodiverse places on earth and would provide the perfect backdrop for a future movie. With dense foliage and perilous terrain, this would be a great way to elevate tension. As Predators see using thermal vision, the high temperatures of the Amazon would provide a lot for them to contend with. Even though Predators have multiple forms of vision, including night vision, finding a way to backtrack to a time when the Predator didn’t have this would provide an interesting storyline.

A new movie would also open the door to a deeper exploration of the Predator itself, where they use the Amazon as a hunting ground, or as a way for humans to explore the rich lore that symbolizes a true fight for survival. A storyline like this would certainly provide a fresh direction for the franchise, offering a visually stunning backdrop with plenty of narrative opportunities. Seeing John McTiernan return as a director would also be interesting, with potential cast members including Jessica Henwick, Florence Pugh, and Michael B. Jordan. Having athletic actors and actresses would suit the fast-paced, deadly narrative while providing charisma and charm on the big screen for people who may be new to the franchise.
