F9 Races A Bit Later in Theaters This Summer

After numerous false starts due to the pandemic, Universal Pictures’ F9 may see the finish line with theaters re-opening this summer.

Just in case, the studio moved the release date by a few weeks from May 28 to June 25, 2021. For most fans, it’ll be worth the wait for the ninth chapter of the Fast & Furious franchise that already generated $5 billion over the past two decades.

Here’s the brief synopsis:

Vin Diesel’s Dom Toretto is leading a quiet life off the grid with Letty and his son, little Brian, but they know that danger always lurks just over their peaceful horizon. This time, that threat will force Dom to confront the sins of his past if he’s going to save those he loves most. His crew joins together to stop a world-shattering plot led by the most skilled assassin and high-performance driver they’ve ever encountered: a man who also happens to be Dom’s forsaken brother, Jakob (John Cena).

The film stars returning cast members Michelle Rodriguez, Tyrese Gibson, Chris “Ludacris” Bridges, Jordana Brewster, Nathalie Emmanuel, Sung Kang, Helen Mirren, and Charlize Theron. It also features Cardi B as the new franchise character Leysa, a woman with a connection to Dom’s past, and a cameo by Reggaeton sensation Ozuna.

Justin Lin returns to the director chair after he helmed the third, fourth, fifth, and sixth chapters of the franchise. This time around, the Fast & Furious crew proceed with their globetrotting expeditions around the world from London to Tokyo, Central America to Edinburgh, and from a secret bunker in Azerbaijan to the streets of Tbilisi.

Audiences have waited long enough. Can’t wait to check out F9 this summer for a ton of unbelievable physic-defying action.
