Gary Whitta Teases Of Star Wars News Coming Next Week, Possible New Show| LRM Barside Buzz

Lars Mikkelsen claims he's had no offer to play a live-action Thrawn in Ahsoka

Twitter and Star Wars just seem to go hand in hand.  Last week Rahul Kohli sent Star Wars Twitter into a frenzy when he tweeted that he had gotten in shape to play a live action Ezra Bridger.  Fans of Star Wars Rebels went crazy showing support for Rahul while he continued to send mixed messages about playing the popular character.  Now it seems that writer Gary Whitta has joined the fun and sent a tweet out yesterday about some Star Wars news coming out next week.

What could this mean? Let the speculation begin… Gary Whitta has credits writing Rogue One: A Star Wars Story and a couple episodes of Star Wars Rebels.  We our checking in with our source to see if we can get a better idea of what the big news could be. Last week we wrote that Lucasfilm and Disney+ have plans to release two animated shows next year in 2021.  While we know one show will be The Bad Batch which will focus on the aftermath of Order 66. If the news is about a new animated show lets look at two potential possibilities of what the news could be.

Star Wars Rebels Sequel?

Corey and Noah over at Kessel Run Transmissions Podcast have claimed since January of this year that an animated Star Wars Rebels sequel was happening and they still our firm on that scoop.  What makes Gary’s tweet and this news interesting is Gary did write four episodes of Star Wars Rebels from season three and four.

Rogue Squadron?

A while back our source gave us an interesting piece that an animated Rogue Squadron series, was is early development. Not all shows in development go ahead, but our source thinks this one has legs.

We don’t have any other details right now. Since both of the Star Wars projects Gary has worked on are during the Empire/Rebellion era a Rogue Squadron show could be possible. The timing the news is interesting as well, with the Star War Rogue Squadron video game debuting tomorrow. Rogue Squadron were an elite set of pilots, and their stories were further expanded in the old EU books post-Return of the Jedi.

What do you think about the tweet could it be a Rebels sequel or maybe a Rogue Squadron show? Leave your thoughts below as always.
