It was almost eight years ago when DC fans began seeing the creation of a new universe filled with our favorite characters. On The CW, what we know as the Arrowverse kicked off with Arrow. This lead to The Flash, DC’s Legends of Tomorrow, Supergirl, Black Lightning, and Batwoman. Soon it will spin-off into Superman and Lois as well. The production of these series has been decent as they do their job at telling us an engaging story.

Now WarnerMedia has a new service that will be offering DC Originals and that is HBO Max. The streaming service is going to be making a Green Lanterns series. This will be produced by Greg Berlanti, one of the key figures in The CW series. Also J.J. Abrams will be taking on a Justice League Dark series.

So what can we expect as far as quality for these series? Will it resemble what we have seen already on The CW? The answer is no. These series are being called the “next step up in production value” by the content chief for HBO Max, Kevin Reilly in an interview with Business Insider.

“Greg [Berlanti, who is producing a Green Lantern series for Max] has done a lot of really quality DC fare for The CW. These will not be that. These will be next step up in production value. You can expect the highest level of cinematic production values on those shows, and that’s the same for the projects we’ve announced with J.J. [Abrams]”, said Reilly.

Series like Green Lanterns and Justice League Dark require a lot of special effects to be at all believable. It makes sense that they would take extra care in making these series right. I cannot wait to see the first look at either of these DC series from HBO Max.
