How Avatar Producer Feels About Disney Acquiring Fox

The House of Mouse is now a proud owner of a little studio called Fox. This past week finally saw the $71 billion merger take place, giving Disney a whole host of properties previously unattainable. Of course, the big ones we’ve discussed here on the site ad nauseam are the likes of X-Men and Fantastic Four, but we can’t forget that they also have one other big multi-billion-dollar property at their disposal: Avatar.

Yup, Disney has effectively become the new manager of the blue man group, and given how much clout and power that property, and its producers, have, we couldn’t help but be interested to hear what they have to say about this whole deal. I mean, they are kind of a big deal, right? Speaking with THR, Jon Landau, Avatar producer, let us know what they’re thinking over at Lightstorm Entertainment.

“We’re very sad the Murdochs chose to sell the company. But if they’re going to sell the company, there’s nobody better than Disney to sell it to.”

Given that Disney comes with plenty of money to help fund James Cameron’s magnum opuses, they’re not wrong there. At the very least, they’re with a company who is willing to invest big so long as a film has the potential to bring in a big audience. Additionally, they already have The World of Avatar theme park, so ties are pretty close.
