X-Men: Sophie Turner Said Working On Apocalypse With Singer Was ‘Unpleasant’

The tides of power in Hollywood are ever-shifting, and the recent #MeToo movement has led to some very interesting changes. However, director Bryan Singer really didn’t get ousted by his numerous sexual misconduct allegations, but instead by his unwillingness to return to the set of Bohemian Rhapsody for personal reasons. The film was famously finished by the uncredited Dexter Fletcher, and Singer has since been dropped from his Red Sonja project.

It’s only recently that we started hearing more complaints about working with him. Last month, Bohemian Rhapsody star Rami Malek, while coy on specific details, went on to say, “In my situation with Bryan, it was not pleasant, not at all. And that’s about what I can say about it at this point.” But, of course, he’s not the only one who’s worked with him. Sophie Turner, who plays X-Men: Apocalypse‘s Jean Grey, echoed Malek’s comments in a Rolling Stone piece.

“Our time together was, like Rami said, unpleasant.”

She didn’t really go into detail as to why her experience with Singer was unpleasant, but it was a comment that came on the heels of seeing parallels between the politics of Westeros and the politics inherent in the acting business.

“There’s a lot of Sansa in me. You go into something and you think it’s going to be a huge dream, and then you figure out, ‘Oh, wait. I have to be very strategic about everything. And Harvey Weinstein is Joffrey or Ramsay. Probably worse than that. A White Walker.’ ”

Turner will be reprising her role as Jean Grey in the upcoming film Dark Phoenix, which is set to hit theaters on June 7.
