Is Kojima Productions Teasing A Big Announcement?

While Death Stranding may not have resonated with everyone when it hit store shelves last year, it certainly made quite a splash. It had the budget of a blockbuster, the cinematic vision of an auteur, and the gameplay of a well-crafted experiment. And like all auteur-driven creations, it had the capacity to polarize gamers. Some loved it, and many others hated it. In all honesty, there is almost no other game that could have kickstarted Kojima Productions so well.

Sure, Death Stranding may not have sold nearly as much as they had hoped (as evidenced by the lack of information on sales), but it really does stand out as something that could have only been made at that studio. Like many others, I’ve been excited to see what Kojima Productions does next. Will we have a short time to wait? Very possibly.

Kojima Productions shared a cryptic tweet. Check it out for yourselves below.

“Sorry to be silent everyone! I’ve been really busy lately…..I think i can say more soon about what we are going to…..#KojimaProductions”

As you can see, the tweet in question features Hideo Kojima himself looking at the camera and writing on a notepad. If you zoom into the notepad, you’ll notice “NEXT WEEK!” is written out. It may seem like the photo was candid, but it could have been very well choreographed.

But, of course, since it’s the internet, conspiracy theories are abound. Some pointed to the use of the word “silent” in the tweet and have gone on to believe that it could be a Silent Hill game. If you’ll recall, way back in 2014, Kojima and Guillermo del Toro collaborated on a now-canceled game. All gamers got was an ambitious and well-crafted demo. But several months later, the game was canceled by Konami.

So, could Kojima be making his way back to the game? It’s possible. Part of me hopes that it can be something else as well. Kojima has expressed his desire for his studio to make movies, and I think it’d be great to see what he could do in a feature film or series. But what do you think? What project do you want Kojima Productions to do next? Let us know your thoughts down below!
