There has been a lot of buzz about the spider-web countdown that was being posted by Marvel Entertainment on their official Twitter account. The only clue that we had was a hashtag that said #MarvelComics. Today we have learned via Marvel Entertainment that this will be a new five issue limited series titled Spider-Man, written by J.J. Abrams and his son Henry Abrams with artwork by Sara Pichelli and colors by Dave Stewart. Check out their announcement they posted on the Marvel Entertainment Twitter page below!

That’s right! The director for Disney’s Star Wars: The Rise of the Skywalker, Broadway producer for Derren Brown: Secret and not to mention he is the man who is said to be finishing up a $500 million deal with WarnerMedia is making a comic book. Via a phone interview with The New York Times, Abrams said that, “A year or so ago, I started talking about it with Henry and it sort of happened organically. And that has been the joy of this. Even though I’ve been talking to Nick for a long time, weirdly, this feels like it just sort of evolved from the conversations of Henry and I, having ideas that got us excited and Nick being open to the collaboration.”
“Spider-Man is one of those super heroes where the more you read about him, for me at least, the less I understand him,” added Henry. “He’s so anti-everything that you’d expect from a hero. I think Stan Lee said something about putting the human in superhuman. That is what we’re trying to do.”
The series will debut this September and the father/son duo will introduce a new villain to the already large rouge’s gallery for Spider-Man with a character named Cadaverous. He is set to cause problems for our neighborhood friendly Spider-Man, his alter-ego Peter Parker as well as Mary Jane Watson. Check out the cover for the first issue by Oliver Coipel below!
