J.K. Simmons Doesn’t Expect To Be Playing Commissioner Gordon Again Anytime Soon

Beginning his career in the mid-1980s as a character actor, J.K. Simmons has been everything from an “Oh, it’s that guy!” type actor to a very prolific voice actor. Over the last several years Simmons has become quite well known among cinema aficionados and even managed to nab himself an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for his role in the 2015 film, Whiplash.

One of his more notable roles as of late, at least to us nerds, was portraying Gotham City police commissioner, Jim Gordon, in the very divisive Justice League. Simmons recently spoke with Collider, and was asked if there was an update on Commissioner Gordon returning to the DCEU, you can check out what he had to say below

“Nothing has changed. There are conversations going on, that I’m not going to make public. As far as I know, there’s no opportunity, in the immediate future, for me to do more Commissioner Gordon, but I continue to be optimistic that it will happen again.”

As most of you already know playing Jim Gordon wasn’t Simmons’ first role in the superhero world, as he also played J. Jonah Jameson is the Spider-Man films that starred Tobey Maguire. I thought Simmons did a great job as Jim Gordon, considering the limited screen time he was given, and the, well, mess of a movie that Justice League turned out to be. I do wish he would have had more to do in the film. Simmons is one of those actors that can convince me to give a film a shot, simply because he is a part of it.
