Following the end of the SAG strike James Gunn has come out to confirm the Superman: Legacy release date in theatres. As we know the movie couldn’t choose a production start date until the SAG-AFTRA strike was resolved. Now that has happened and the movie can be booked to go, Gunn has conformed the release date will stay the same as it was p-re-strikes. In other words, Superman: Legacy will drop on July 11, 2025. Thanks to the efforts of our talented crew, who never lost faith during the longest strikes in Hollywood history, and who never let their foot off the pedal, continuing to barrel forward, creating the most amazing character and set designs I’ve seen in my entire career, #SupermanLegacy will be making the originally planned release date of July 11, 2025.

It would be fair to say that this new DCU is going to be reliant on this Superman film making a profit at the box office. Frankly, the newness of it all, may attract some people in. The hardcore comic book movie fans know this is also a complete reboot and a new shared universe. After that it depends on whether Gunn makes a good Superman movie, which is a task not many have accomplished.

So far we have most of the main cast of Superman: Legacy, but there were some still to be officially named. For example, we still have no Lex Luthor. There are some rumors we’eve shared but nothing concrete like we have for most of the rest of the main and supporting cast of the movie.

I’m kinda looking forward to this one because I like Gunn as a filmmaker, I like Superman as a character and I wasn’t a huge fan of the previous regime. I guess we will find out whether Gunn is up to the task on July 11, 2025?
