There were rumors that there would be a DCU announcement on January 6th. However James Gunn debunks this January DCU reveal rumor on social media, as he tends to do. Gunn himself has hinted we would find out more about what comes next in the DCU this year. However given what he says below, perhaps January 6th is a bit too early. Check it out.
It is not.

So there will be no DCU announcement on Januray 6th, but you can bet it will happen at some point this year. The tree DCEU films releasing this year appear to the the last of that Universe. The DCU will take it’s place, but other than the fact we know Gunn is writing a Superman movie, we know nothing else yet. I’d also take any kind of rumors with a heavy dose of sodium because it seems even trade sources are out of the loop when it comes to Gunn and Saffran’s DCU plans. Though, that will change.
I am personally looking forward to a rebooted DCU. I’m disappointed no more Cavill like a lot of fans. However I was no fan of the SnyderVerse and for me there was too much baggage. Will a rebooted DCU fair better? I guess we will find out soon enough. However what we can say is that the current DCEU was not making the splash at the box office that WB/D are looking for.

There is of course a very oval minority of Synder fans who now wish Gunn to fail miserably. Whilst that might not be good overall for the box office future, I guess you also have to accept that the majority of comic book movies fans were not into the SnyderVerse. It will be interesting to see what happens next for sure.
I do expect a big DCU reveal event this year. However when that is likely to be I have zero clue.
What do you think of this as James Gunn debunks the January DCU reveal rumor? As always, let us know your thoughts below.
